Catch the Big One: Key West Gator Club Dolphin Derby

Fishing Fanatics, Rejoice! The Key West Gator Club Dolphin Derby is back after a hiatus, and it’s making waves from June 21-23. Anglers, this is your shot at $15,000 in guaranteed cash prizes, perfectly timed with the peak dolphin fishing season in the Florida Keys.

Headquarters: The action happens at Beachside Resort & Residences, 3841 N. Roosevelt Blvd.

What's at Stake:

• Grand Prize: $5,000 for the heaviest dolphin fish.
• Second Place: $3,000
• Third Place: $2,000
• Prizes are awarded through fifth place.
• Special prizes: $1,000 each for the top lady angler and junior angler, plus cash for second and third places in these divisions.

Schedule:

• June 21: Kickoff with final registration, reception, and captains meeting at 6 p.m. at Beachside Resort.
• June 22-23: Fishing from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with weigh-ins until 5:30 p.m.

Rules: Each team can enter one qualifying fish per day in each division. Fish from lady and junior anglers can win in overall divisions too.

Entry Fees: $500 per team (up to four anglers) until June 7, 2024. Post-June 7, it’s $700. Proceeds support Gator Club scholarships for University of Florida students from Key West High School.
