The 43rd annual Key West Literary Seminar returns January 8–11, 2026, bringing readers and writers together for four days of world-class literary programming at the historic San Carlos Institute. Each year the event explores a unique theme, and in 2026 the focus is “Pay Attention! The Novel, or The Long Form in a Time of Short Attention.” The Seminar features presentations, readings, and conversations with acclaimed authors including Rachel Kushner, Richard Russo, Claire Messud, Colm Tóibín, Gary Shteyngart, and more. Opening night keynote & gala reception on January 8.

Full-day programming with readings, interviews, panels, and book signings January 9–11.

Special events such as a patrons’ dinner, closing luncheon, and a free public session.

Registration cost: $825 per person.
Ahead of the Seminar, the Writers’ Workshop Program runs January 4–8, 2026, offering eight to ten small-group classes led by esteemed faculty such as Jami Attenberg, Charles Baxter, and Aimee Nezhukumatathil. Workshops are capped at twelve participants, run three hours daily, and cost $675, with fellowships available to support emerging writers and educators. Programming includes welcome receptions, literary conversations, and even a sunset sail. By combining intimate workshops with the large-scale Seminar, the event provides a rare chance for readers and writers to deepen their craft, connect with celebrated authors, and celebrate literature in the heart of Key West.
