The 49th Annual Swim Around Key West

The 49th Annual Swim Around Key West, a challenging 12.5-mile open water swim, will take place on Saturday, June 28, 2025, starting at 10:00 a.m. from Higgs Beach in Key West. This event, presented by Anna Fugina, involves a clockwise swim around the island, strategically planned to align with the tides for optimal conditions. Swimmers will benefit from tide rides through Key West Harbor, under the Fleming Key Bridge, and up to Dredgers Key, before catching the outgoing tide to Cow Key Channel, and finishing the last 4 miles along the Atlantic Ocean. Key details include:
- Categories: Solo (150 participants), 2-person relay (10 teams), 3-person relay (10 teams).
- Support Requirements: Swimmers must provide their own support kayaker and kayak. For assistance, David Chen or Anna Fugina can be contacted to help find a kayaker for a minimum $200 fee. Rental options are available through local companies.
- Registration Details: Registration closes on April 24, 2025. There is a strict no-refund policy, regardless of cancellations by participants or event organizers.
- Pre-Race Activities: Registration and a mandatory pre-race meeting will occur on Friday, June 27, at Higgs Beach.
- Post-Race: Awards and a raffle will be held on the beach following the swim, at 6:00 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will support the Florida Keys Children’s Shelter, reinforcing the event's commitment to community well-being.
